Careers

Work to live.

Very high standards, and a company that takes real care of the people who meet them. We want to change what people expect from a job, not just from an IT company.

What we offer

We want to innovate in how we take care of our people, not just in technology and service. You’re trusting us with your livelihood; we don’t take that for granted, and we reward it. People who enjoy their work, and have a life outside it, do their best work. That’s why we enforce time off.

  • Equity

Own part of the company you’re helping build.

  • Profit sharing

A share of the profits, paid out as a bonus every quarter. When we do well, you do too.

  • Actually competitive pay

Plenty of companies say “competitive” and use it as cover to underpay. We mean it: above the market average.

  • Room to grow

We develop our people and promote from within first. Your next role here should be one you grew into, not one we hired over you.

  • Certification reimbursement

We pay for the certifications that move your career forward.

  • Tuition help

Help paying for education that helps you grow.

  • 32-hour weeks

Do great work in fewer hours, then go live your life.

  • Remote first

Work from home, on-site when the job needs it. You’ll need to live in West Michigan.

  • Company-paid insurance

Health, dental and vision, paid for by the company.

  • Retirement matching

We match what you put away for the future.

  • PTO you have to take

Generous paid time off, and using it isn’t optional. Burnout isn’t a badge of honor.

  • Commission for everyone

Bring in new business and you earn on it, whatever your role.

  • Gym reimbursement

    Your membership, covered.

  • Pet insurance

For the family members with four legs.

For full-time team members. Details are confirmed in your offer.

No open roles right now

We’re not posting a specific role today, but we’re always glad to meet good people. Introduce yourself and we’ll reach out when something fits.

Introduce yourself

What it’s like here

Partners, not vendors
Honest advice, no overselling and straight answers. We recommend what we’d choose for ourselves.
Do it properly
The first 95% of any job is the easy part. We care about the last 5%. We treat our clients’ businesses as our own, so “good enough” never is. We’re perfectionists who take the extra steps that turn good work into great work, and we take pride in every detail.
Keep learning
Technology moves fast. Curiosity matters more here than knowing everything on day one.
Give back
At least 1% of all revenue goes to local causes and tree planting, and everyone on the team is part of it.

What we expect

We take care of our people, and we expect a lot in return.

  • Experts, or people determined to become one. Where you start matters less than how far you want to go.
  • Ambition and a growth mindset. You want to get better every year, and to help us do the same.
  • Professional and personable. Clients should trust you and enjoy working with you.
  • Level-headed critical thinking, especially when something is on fire.
  • High standards for yourself, for each other and for the company, and the honesty to speak up when we fall short.
  • A real drive to show up for your community. Technology is the job; making a positive difference is the point.

Transparency

Rotating on-call
We answer emergencies 24/7, so expect to take your turn on a rotating on-call schedule.
Background checks for everyone
Every hire goes through one. Some teams need a more extensive check, certifications or travel, and we’ll say so in every posting.
How big will we get?
There’s no finish line. We’ll keep growing as far as we can, multinational if it comes to that, because the bigger we grow, the more people, businesses and communities we can help and look after.
We’re early
Some of this page is a plan, not yet a reality. We’ll always be honest about which is which.

How we hire

Short and laid-back. Be yourself: we value authenticity and transparency, and culture fit matters a lot here. That means shared values, not sameness.

  1. Get to know you

A Teams call with our owner, Derrick: your background, what drives you and why Arbora.

  2. Lunch with the team

A relaxed small-group lunch, on us, to dig into your experience, your current skills and where you want to go, and to see if it all lines up.

  3. Next steps

We’ll tell you where things stand, yes or no. If we’re moving forward, background checks and the rest come next.

Every application is read by a person, not AI. We always update you, and we never ghost.

Arbora Managed IT is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of every background and don’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected characteristic. If you need an accommodation to apply, email us and we’ll help.

Roadmap

Where we’re headed. As we grow, we’re building these teams. If one sounds like you, say so when you introduce yourself.

Teams

  • Professional services

    Blue team

Day-to-day support for our clients, from level 1 technicians up to administrators.

  • Infrastructure & cyber

    Gray team

Builds and maintains infrastructure and security posture: cloud, physical infrastructure, cyber defense, information security, engineering and analytics.

  • Development

    Teal team

Builds apps, websites and automation for our clients and for us: custom tools, integrations and workflows that give people their time back.

  • Sales & client success

    Green team

Brings clients in and keeps them happy: sales, contracts, sales engineering, technology consulting, onboarding, offboarding and client engagement.

  • Installation

    Yellow team

Puts the physical side in place: structured cabling, fiber, wireless access points, cameras, door access and other equipment, installed cleanly and documented.

  • Forensics, audit & compliance

    Black team

E-discovery, digital forensics, cyber and infrastructure audits, AI, compliance and intelligence. Partners with local businesses on legal matters involving technology, and serves as a force multiplier for governments, agencies, public entities and defense contractors.

What it takes: Extensive background checks, and over time the ability to hold a security clearance.

  • Rapid response

    Red team

A mix of technicians, installers, engineers and admins who deploy across our region after natural disasters and other emergencies. Modified Arbora trucks carry technology, generators, battery packs, food and water to deliver relief, support ITDRC and other volunteer organizations, and lead IT response to get communities back online. Also extra hands for our community events.

What it takes: FEMA training, first aid certification (first responder a plus), a thorough background check, flexibility to deploy for one to two weeks, and a steady head in high-stress, austere conditions.

  • Community

    White team

A small, non-technical team that leads our community outreach, sponsorships, donations and events.

  • Marketing

    Purple team

Tells the Arbora story and helps the right businesses find us.

  • People & HR

    Orange team

Hiring, onboarding and looking after the team.

Milestones

  • A home base

A modern, welcoming office for on-site collaboration whenever the team wants it, and an anchor for our presence in the community.

  • Fleet vehicles

Company vehicles for everyone who works on-site, so your car isn’t the company car.
